An Ottumwa man who is a registered sex offender is facing an additional charge after allegedly making inappropriate contact with a 10-year-old child Sunday night.
Jacobe Deiters, 21, has been charged with Indecent Contact with a Child, an aggravated misdemeanor. The incident occurred at approximately 11:14 p.m. on Sunday, August 9th in Ottumwa.
According to court documents, Deiters aggressively pushed his hand onto the victim’s inner thigh without consent and began asking the 10-year-old questions of a sexual nature.
Deiters is a registered sex offender as of May 22nd, 2025, following a conviction for Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor — First Offense, an aggravated misdemeanor, stemming from an offense in 2024.
Following his initial appearance, Deiters is being held on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 20th. A no contact order has been requested in the case.
