After trailing 5-0 in the opening minutes, Pekin responded to take a 14-12 lead after the first quarter. The Panthers caught fire in the second quarter, outscoring WACO 16-6 to build a commanding 30-18 halftime advantage. Pekin extended the lead to 46-31 after three quarters before holding on in a tense fourth quarter that saw WACO outscore the Panthers 16-7.
Pekin’s offense was clicking early, with their defense holding WACO in check through the first three quarters. However, the Panthers struggled down the stretch, missing eight consecutive free throws after scoring their final points with 2:09 remaining. Despite the late struggles, Pekin’s first-half dominance proved enough to secure the victory.
