Holy Trinity Catholic Boys Pull Away from Van Buren County, 70–34

The Van Buren County boys basketball team was defeated by Holy Trinity Catholic, 70–34, on Tuesday, December 16th. The loss dropped the Warriors to 2–5 on the season, while the Crusaders improved to 3–2.

Game Recap

Holy Trinity Catholic took control early, building an 18–7 lead by the end of the first quarter. Van Buren County struggled offensively in the second period, scoring just four points, as the Crusaders extended their advantage to 37–11 at halftime.

The momentum continued after the break, with Holy Trinity Catholic stretching the lead to 60–22 by the end of the third quarter. The Crusaders maintained command throughout the fourth quarter to secure the 36-point victory.

Van Buren County Stats

Jace Duncan led the Warriors with 13 points, including 11 in the second half highlighted by three three-pointers. Lincoln Bainbridge added seven points, Landry Loeffler scored six, and Will Cocherell and Kinnick Millard each finished with four points.

As a team, Van Buren County committed 24 turnovers, collected 35 rebounds, and went 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Holy Trinity Catholic Stats

Holy Trinity Catholic was paced by 6-foot-5 Layne Rung with 25 points. Jay Ellison followed with 23 points, including seven three-pointers accounting for 21 of his total. The Crusaders finished with just five turnovers, pulled down 31 rebounds, and shot 4-of-7 from the free-throw line.
