We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of DeLoris Evelyn Sullivan on December 2, 2025 at the Monroe County Hospital.
Born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on February 22, 1945 to Arthur and Evelyn (Zumwalt) McMillen; DeLoris graced the world with her warm spirit, tireless resilience, and an unyielding dedication to the Lord and those she loved. She crafted a lifetime of precious memories, genuine friendships, and heartwarming deeds. DeLoris was a beacon of compassion and generosity. Her strong faith in the Lord molded her into the person she was. Her talents were many and varied, but they all shared a common thread – they were tools through which she could express her love and nurture others. An accomplished homemaker, DeLoris loved to read, crochet, sew, and was known for her remarkable cooking and baking skills. Her house was a sanctuary for any soul in need of a comforting meal, fellowship, or a helping hand. She was a consummate caregiver, caring for her family with a devotion that was both selfless and inspiring. In addition to her work at home, DeLoris had a unique practice of sending out encouragement cards; she may have sent over 100 cards a month at times, each one filled with the warmth and positivity she wished to share with the world.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Sullivan of Ottumwa, Timothy (Cindy) Sullivan of Owatonna, MN, Cynthia (Mark) Gillaspie of Albia, Brenda Polson of Albia; Micheal (Tiffany) Moyle of Huntsville, Arkansas; Shanna (Kenny) Gerig of Albany, Oregon; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Jess (Debbie) McMillen of Lovilia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Evelyn McMillen; husbands, Jack Moyle and Warren Sullivan; two children, Michael Sullivan and Sarah Sullivan; three great grandchildren, Renn, Freya and Gwenevere Johnson; siblings, Virginia Weldon, Joyce Harrison, Thomas McMillen. DeLoris’s life was a symphony of kindness, resilience, and love, and her memory will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, opening to the public at 3:00 p.m., with family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. Memorials have been established to the family.
