David Harold “Jonzee” Jones, 68, of Ottumwa died at 5:08 p.m. November 19, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
He was born November 29, 1956 in Ottumwa to Charles and Marie Giles Jones. Dave married Rebecca Ann Babb April 19, 1980.
Growing up in Ottumwa he worked 7 years for Burlington Northern Railroad and 36 years as grounds and maintenance at Indian Hills Community College, retiring August 18, 2018.
Dave enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Terry Labonte and Kyle Larson. Early in life he had enjoyed fishing and most recently he enjoyed taking care of his yard, including mowing his yard 2 or 3 times a week. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Rebecca; 2 daughters, Amber (Doug) Bringman and Autum Wonderlin both of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Kylee Bringman, Madison Bringman, Allison Bringman and Findley Wonderlin; siblings, Charles Ronald (Barbara) Jones of Ottumwa, Rozella (Steve) Spangler of Clarksdale, MO; several nieces and nephews including nephew, Jackie Jones; and Dave’s dog, Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Donna McSparen and Rosemary Meeker.
His body has been cremated. Visitation with his family present to greet friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday November 23rd at Reece Funeral Home.
