Melissa Marie Lawson, born on September 25, 1964, in Centerville, IA to Teddy and Patty (Proffitt) Lawson.
She passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the MercyOne Medical Center, ER in Centerville. She was an embodiment of generosity and kindness. Melissa, a resident of Moulton, Iowa, spent her life devoted to those she loved and the community she cherished. Her spirit was as vibrant and nurturing as the plants she adored, each leaf and petal a testament to her patience and care. Her hands, accustomed to the hard work of a bag machine operator, found joy and tranquility in the delicate art of crafting and crocheting, creating pieces as unique and beautiful as she was. Melissa’s unfaltering willingness to help anyone in need was a beacon of light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her love for her Moulton community was as steadfast as her admiration for the local school system, a reflection of her belief in the transformative power of education. Above all, Melissa cherished her family. Melissa’s life was a tapestry of kindness, compassion, and love, each thread intricately woven into the fabric of the lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughter, Ashtyn Lawson and Taylor Smith, one granddaughter, Clarissa Centolella, parents, Teddy and Patty Lawson; significant other, Bobbie Fogelsong; one sister, Jodi Tallent; one nephew, Tyler (Tiffany) Bradley; and two great nephews, Hunter and Trapper.
