A Croton man was arrested following a disturbance in Farmington earlier this week that led to multiple charges, including burglary and assault.
According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9 p.m. on October 14th, 2025, to a report of a physical altercation at a residence in the 100 block of North 4th Street in Farmington, Iowa.
Following an investigation, Jesse Fellows, 36, of Croton, Iowa, was taken into custody after allegedly walking to a residence to confront an individual over a personal dispute. Court records indicate Fellows had been drinking at a local bar prior to the incident.
Deputies say Fellows kicked over a motorcycle parked in front of the residence before approaching the home. He then allegedly kicked open the front door, causing damage to both the door and door frame, and entered the occupied residence without permission. Two relatives of the homeowner were inside the residence at the time. According to court documents, they heard the door being kicked in and were afraid for their safety. The relatives found Fellows inside the residence arguing with his girlfriend.
After leaving the residence, Fellows was confronted by a friend who had been with him earlier in the evening and tried to intervene. Deputies say Fellows then assaulted the man, and a relative of the property owner who attempted to break up the altercation also sustained minor injuries. A concerned citizen nearby called 911 after witnessing the incident.
Deputies observed damage to both the motorcycle and the front door. Authorities located Fellows one block away from the residence, walking on a public roadway. According to law enforcement, Fellows showed signs of intoxication, including red, bloodshot, and watery eyes, and was emitting a strong odor of alcohol. He admitted to consuming alcohol that night and registered a .154% blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Fellows also made admission statements about kicking over the motorcycle and fighting.
He faces the following charges:
- Burglary 3rd Degree – Class D Felony
- Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness (2 counts) – Serious Misdemeanor
- Criminal Mischief 4th Degree – Serious Misdemeanor
- Criminal Mischief 5th Degree – Simple Misdemeanor
- Public Intoxication – Simple Misdemeanor
- Disorderly Conduct (Fighting/Violent Behavior) – Simple Misdemeanor
Fellows was released the following day after his initial court appearance under pretrial release conditions, which include obeying a no-contact order with the victims, appearing at all required hearings, and refraining from alcohol or drug use.
