Betty Louise Foster, age 93, of Albia, IA, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa, IA.
Betty was born on May 3, 1932, to Glen L and Ruby (McAninch) Benson. She grew up attending school and graduated from Albia High School with the class of 1950. Betty then attended the School of Cosmetology in Ottumwa. On December 27, 1952, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Foster and to this union, a son, Royce Dean, was born. Betty and Dick were blessed with 48 years of marriage prior to Dick’s passing on March 4, 2001.
Betty was a beautician in Albia for many years. Following her retirement, she devoted her time to caring for and supporting her family during illnesses.
Betty was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling with the Peoples Bunch and Heritage Club. Betty was known for her strong work ethic and took pride in keeping her home beautiful, which she enjoyed decorating with bird décor. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and flower gardening. Above all else, Betty cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She loved to visit with her family and friends over coffee and cookies.
Betty is survived by a sister, Shirley Gardner of Albia; a sister-in-law, Vicky Benson of California; and a special niece, Linda, whom Betty loved like a daughter. She is also survived by her special friend, Melissa Foster and other special family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick Foster; her son, Royce Foster; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Glen Leroy; and 2 sisters, Patricia and Beverly.
Per Betty’s wishes, her body has been cremated and no formal services are planned.
