Stephen Brody Crain, a 30-year-old resident of San Antonio, has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for making interstate threats to two victims in Iowa and their family members. This sentence was handed down today in the Southern District of Iowa.

Court documents reveal that Crain engaged in a pattern of threatening behavior over an eight-month period, which included sending direct threats, making false reports to the Iowa Department of Human Services, and even sending pizzas to the victims’ homes. One victim was coerced into sending more than $4,000 to Crain, highlighting the extent of his harassment.

This is not Crain’s first encounter with the law. He was previously convicted of stalking in Texas, where he exhibited similar behaviors, including sending threatening messages and making false abuse reports. Crain was paroled in November 2023, just two months before he began targeting the Iowa victims.

Following his prison term, Crain will be subject to a three-year term of supervised release. It is important to note that there is no parole in the federal system. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay $4,117 in restitution to the victims.

United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentencing, emphasizing the commitment to holding individuals accountable for such harmful actions. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
