A climatologist at the Midwestern Regional Climate Center says a new weather-related tool could help improve the bottom line for farmers and ranchers.
Austin Pearson says the Ag Climate Dashboard houses different digital tools that support various management strategies.
“What this dashboard is hoping to do is to shed light on different areas that can help producers become more profitable,” he says. “Farmers can explore interactive tools for crop growth, pest forecasting, and risk evaluation.”
He tells Brownfield the platform is designed by farmers for farmers.
“This is going to allow farmers to access up-to-date weather data, forecasts, and historical records,” he says. “They can also discover new agricultural climate resources. If farmers or advisors want to add a tool to that dashboard or a link to that dashboard, they can do that.”
Pearson says the project is funded by the United Soybean Board.
