Diana and Glen Watt have turned their yard at 800 South 3rd Street into something truly special—and the Fairfield Beautification Commission has taken notice.
The couple has been awarded the Rose Award for Excellence in Landscaping, a recognition given to local residents who go above and beyond in making Fairfield a more beautiful place to live.
Diana and Glen have lived in their home since 1989. That’s when Diana’s passion for gardening first started to take root. Over the years, she’s transformed their outdoor space into a lush, layered landscape that blends natural beauty with thoughtful design.
The garden is a peaceful mix of native wildflowers, bold foliage, and carefully placed shrubs and trees. Winding limestone paths lead visitors past blooming hydrangeas, birdbaths tucked among the plants, and a small vegetable patch. Planter pots add pops of color, and a handcrafted pergola—built by Glen—anchors the whole scene.
Diana’s artistic eye extends beyond the garden, too. She uses flowers from her own yard to make pressed flower greeting cards, which she sells at local spots like Petal Floral, Everybody’s, Thymely Solutions, and the Fairfield Farmers Market. Each card is one-of-a-kind and reflects the same love for detail and composition that’s visible in her garden.
What the Watts have created is more than a pretty yard—it’s a place that invites people (and pollinators) to slow down and take it all in.
