Mary Irene Roberts Katzartones, 95, of Ottumwa, died at 8:27 a.m. July 3, 2025 at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa.
She was born August 23, 1929 in Wapello County to John R. and Leona E. Besco Lehman. She married Johnnie Roberts May 8, 1948 and he preceded her in death March 7, 1988. She married Keith Katzartones September 7, 1991 and he preceded her in death April 27, 2002.
A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, Mary worked as a supervisor at Swift & Co. and John Morrell & Co. She also worked 10 years at Tenco, retiring in 1978.
She was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church and was a member of Ollepaw Chapter of American Business Women.
Surviving is her son, Don Roberts (Peggy Delgado) of Burlington; a daughter-in-law, Terri Roberts of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Brandy (Phil) Green, Erica Kenney, Braydon (Megan) Roberts and Kelton Granneman; 2 great grandchildren, Brooklynne (Henry) Kellar and Avelyn Roberts 2 great-great grandchildren, Noah and Owen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Roberts; 2 great grandchildren, Meriah and Tia Shepherd; brothers, John, Leo, Joe and Robert Lehman; two sisters, Ella Gibson and Dorothy Terrell; and a special friend, Dick Mace.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Curtiss officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation with her family present to greet friends will be one hour prior to the service.
