A small bookstore in Cedar Rapids has landed a surprise mention in Stephen King’s latest novel, Never Flinch. The store, Next Page Books, is located in the heart of the NewBo neighborhood and is well known among local readers.
In the book, a character gets picked up by a car and driver that came from the bookstore. It’s a small moment in the story, but a big deal for the shop and its fans.
Never Flinch is the newest release from the famous author and features two main storylines—one about a revenge-driven killer and the other about a vigilante targeting a well-known speaker. The book brings back Holly Gibney, a favorite character among King’s readers, and introduces some new faces too.
Next Page Books isn’t new to the spotlight. A few years ago, the store received a holiday bonus from bestselling author James Patterson as part of a national effort to support independent bookstores. It was also recognized in 2020 for delivering books to customers during the pandemic, showing its dedication to the community.
Now, with a mention in a Stephen King novel, the local shop has another fun reason to celebrate.
