Kevin Douglas Jarvis, 74, of Ottumwa, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on July 22, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of unwavering faith, Kevin’s life was one marked by purpose, precision, and profound love.
He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Brenda (Wintermote); son Heath (Louise) Jarvis of Naples, FL; son Chris (Dannie) Jarvis of Morganton, NC; granddaughter Jessica (Caleb) Isenhour of Kissimmee, FL; grandson Caleb (Robyn) Jarvis of Naples, FL; and grandchildren Nick and Kaylee Sardella of Morganton, NC. Kevin was preceded in death by his son Joshua Jarvis of Anchorage, AK, a loss that left a lasting imprint on his heart.
Born on December 15, 1950, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Gilbert and Ivalee (Lamb) Jarvis. Kevin grew up with deep Midwestern roots and a determination to take flight—literally. After graduating from Davis County High School in 1969, he pursued his dream of aviation at the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he earned his Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics license.
Kevin’s career was sky-high and far-reaching. From his early days as a mechanic at the Bloomfield Airport to earning his pilot’s license, he charted a remarkable path through the skies. He served as a flight instructor in Knoxville, Iowa, flew commuter routes in Manhattan, Kansas, piloted corporate aircraft in Detroit, Michigan, and ultimately served as Chief Pilot for Tennyson Enterprises in Ottumwa. To Kevin, flying wasn’t just a job—it was a calling.
It was in high school that Kevin met Brenda, the love of his life. Their marriage in 1974 marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership rooted in faith, love, and shared adventure. Together, they built a family grounded in Christian values, strong character, and a deep sense of integrity. Kevin was a born-again Christian who lived his beliefs with sincerity and strength, guiding his family with quiet conviction and steadfast love.
Remarkably, all three of Kevin’s sons followed his passion for aviation, either professionally or personally—a testament to his powerful influence and inspirational spirit. His legacy lives on not just in the skies they navigate, but in the values he instilled in them.
Kevin Jarvis will be remembered as a man of principle and grace, whose faith, humility, and love for family were the compass points of his life. He was deeply admired and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
