A southeast Iowa man was seriously injured in a Wednesday afternoon accident in Davis County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at approximately 2:40 PM, a 2022 Hyundai Accent driven by 75-year-old Kenneth Johnson of Drakesville was traveling eastbound on Bunch Road, east of Ebony Avenue.

The accident report states the Hyundai crossed the center line and a westbound 2012 Ford F350 driven by 18-year-old Wyatt Sandeen swerved to avoid a collision. However, the front of the Hyundai struck the trailer on the Ford. The Ford entered a ditch. The Hyundai came to rest on the roadway.

Authorities say Johnson sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic where his status is unknown. Sandeen was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
