An Ottumwa man was arrested after police say he broke into a home last year and stole items.
46-year-old Daniel Hamilton has been charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony.
Court documents allege that Hamilton unlawfully entered a home on South Milner Street in Ottumwa between June 21st and June 23rd, 2024. Once inside, police say Hamilton took a bottle of juice from a refrigerator and drank it. The victim also reported approximately five dollars in change stolen. Court records say Hamilton and the victim know each other, but the victim did not give Hamilton permission to be inside her home.
A warrant for Hamilton’s arrest was issued on May 29th, and he was taken into custody on June 2nd.
Hamilton is currently lodged in the Wapello County Jail, where his bail has been set at $5,000.
