Judy Kay Simpson, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, in Carlisle, Iowa. Born on August 26, 1937, in Spokane, Washington, Judy lived a full and vibrant life marked by her love for nature, animals, and the simple joys of everyday moments.
Judy was the beloved mother of Tara and the cherished grandmother of Nicole, Jacob, and Katie. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Beckham and Bridget. Her family was a source of deep pride and affection throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her second husband Richard and her first husband Art, as well as her son Terry. Judy also mourned the loss of her mother Margret, father Ernie, stepfather Ray, and sister Janice during her lifetime.
A true animal lover at heart, Judy found companionship and happiness in the company of her dog Ladybug. She delighted in taking long walks with Ladybug and spent countless hours watching birds from her garden—an oasis she lovingly tended to over the years. Her green thumb brought beauty to every season.
Judy also enjoyed cheering on football games and sharing laughter-filled outings to the casino with friends. Judy found her community in the people and friends she met in Monroe. These moments reflected her spirited nature and appreciation for fun and friendship.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the Monroe American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire Department.
Her memory will live on through those who knew and loved her. May it bring comfort to all who remember Judy’s warmth and presence.
