Mahaska Health is adding a new face to its Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy Team—Tessa Van Maanen, MS, CCC-SLP, a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who’s passionate about helping people find their voice.
Tessa works with patients who experience speech, language, voice, and swallowing difficulties. She takes a personal approach, teaming up with patients, their families, and fellow therapists to create treatment plans that meet each person’s individual needs.
She brings a strong educational background to the role, earning her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa and her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Over the years, she’s worked with people of all ages, always with a focus on compassionate care.
“Tessa brings a heart for people and our community,” said Ryan Rowley, Director of Therapy Services at Mahaska Health. “She listens, collaborates, and works hard to support each patient’s goals. We’re excited to have her on board.”
Originally from Sully and New Sharon, Tessa says she’s proud to be back in her home community. At Mahaska Health, she’ll be helping patients manage everything from developmental delays and neurological conditions to swallowing and voice disorders.
Mahaska Health says their mission remains clear: to deliver personalized, patient-first care that helps every person move forward.
