Steven Edward Parks, age 69, passed away at his home on May 19, 2025.
Steve was born on November 8, 1955 to Robert and Dona (Donahue) Parks in Albia, Iowa. He attended primary school in Melrose Iowa, and graduated from Albia Community High School in 1974.
In December 1976, Steve was united in marriage to Patricia Boender. From this union, three children were born: Robert, Laura and Jeannie. They would later divorce. Steve had an assortment of jobs during his working years: The city of Albia, in the street department, semi-truck driver, JBS (then Excel), The Skean Block, and he ran the mobile recycling truck that would go to Melrose and Lovilia. He most recently worked for the City of Albia’s street department and ran the recycling program until he suffered a stroke in 2012, and he had to retire on disability.
He is survived by his children: Robert (Michelle) Parks, Laura (Brett) Ellis, and Jeannie (Mitch) Main; grandchildren: Rebecca (Austin), Nathan (Mariah), and Colton Parks, Elizabeth (Kaleb) Miller, Zachary, Isaiah and Isabella Ellis and Natalie, Abigail and Emma Main; brother Pat Parks; and sisters Jana Parks, Robin (Al Buitenwerf); and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ken Parks; sisters Kathy Hunt and Gayla Glander; and grandson Elijah Ellis.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 26, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. with Steve’s family present at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 with Pastor Richard Grimes officiating at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose. Memorials may be directed to the family.
