Ruby C. Bruhn, 81, of Blakesburg passed away peacefully at 9:00 a.m. July 23, 2026 at her home.
She was born July 28, 1944 in Sterling, CO to Russell and Beulah Pevler Bruhn. They moved to Blakesburg, IA in 1952 where she grew up on a family farm.
Ruby attended a one room country school in rural Davis County before graduating from Blakesburg High School in 1962. She worked 12 years at Champion Spark Plug in Burlington, 16 years at Everco in Ottumwa and 8 years at Chevron Performance Pipe in Bloomfield. Ruby had also worked with stints at Vermeer, Rubbermaid and Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was a member of the Blakesburg Lions Club, Blakesburg Garden Club, Blakesburg Historical Society and the Wapello County Archeological Society. Ruby loved gardening, flowers, kittens, arrowhead and artifact hunting, and especially her dog, Lucky. Ruby was known to everyone to be a hard worker and down right nice person.
Surviving is the love of her life of 25 years, Randy Burton; her daughter, Martha Charbonneau; and a granddaughter, Maddie Schwintek both of Lake of the Ozarks, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Patricia Tadlock, Ellen Vos and Myrna Wade.
Her body has been cremated and services are not planned at this time.
