A Pella woman accused of stabbing a man during a domestic incident has entered a not guilty plea in Marion County District Court.

According to court documents, 57-year-old Marci Allen is facing charges of attempted murder and domestic abuse assault with a weapon. A written arraignment was filed earlier this week, and a pretrial conference has been scheduled for May 28th.

The charges stem from an incident that took place at a home in the 1200 block of Main Street in Pella. Police say Allen allegedly stabbed a man multiple times during an argument inside the residence. The victim called 911 and told dispatchers that Allen was trying to kill him.

Emergency responders found the man with injuries to his hands and a serious stab wound to his neck. Due to the severity of the injuries, a MercyOne Air Med helicopter was dispatched to transport the victim for emergency treatment.

When officers arrived on scene, they reported finding Allen with blood on her clothing. Police say she demonstrated a stabbing motion while describing what happened. Investigators later executed a search warrant and believe a large kitchen knife was used in the attack.

Allen remains charged with attempted murder, a Class B felony that carries a possible prison sentence of up to 25 years if convicted.
