Lester Lawrence Walter, known to many as “Les”, born on September 18, 1948, in Easton, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 6, 2025 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia, Iowa.
With 76 years spent in the community he loved, Lester had a profound impact on many through his service and dedication to the people around him. Lester was a man of commitment and resolve. He was never married, dedicating his life to the service of others. He worked at Victaulic, where he served as a security guard until he retired in 2012. He also courageously served part time as a Bethlehem Township Police Officer. Following this employment, he served as a security officer at Northampton Community College until he became ill. Despite his retirement, Lester’s commitment to public service never waned. He was a lifetime member of the Nancy Run Fire Company, consistently demonstrating his bravery in the face of danger. His love for community and tradition was further evident in his active participation in the Colonial Musketeers Senior Ancient Fife and Drum Corps.
Lester is survived by his two sisters: Gail Hettel and her husband, Karl of Delaware; Janet Dietrich and her husband, Robert of North Carolina. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his numerous nieces and nephews. Lester’s life will be celebrated at a future date, to be announced.
