Douglas Aaron Brinegar, 58, of Ottumwa, died May 9, 2025.
He was born July 2, 1966 in Ottumwa to David E. and Constance M. Hill Brinegar. He married Janet Ann Steinhorst March 22, 1997.
A 1984 graduate of Eddyville High School, he later attended Kirkwood Community College earning a degree in Farm and Ranch Management. Doug had worked at the sale barn and drove truck for a short time while farming his entire life.
Volunteering in many ways, he had been a 4-H leader, was a member of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Wapello County Cattlemen’s Association, a member of the Iowa FFA Alumni Association and the Agri-Power FFA Alumni. He served on the Eddyville School Board for 8 years, having served as president of the board for 6 years. Recently, he was a recipient of the Good Farm Neighbor Award.
Surviving is his wife, Janet; 3 children, Rachel (Mitch) Tafolla of Oelwein, C.D. (Lauren) Brinegar of Eddyville and Wyatt Brinegar (Rebecca Little) of Eddyville; 4 grandchildren, Cael, Grayson, Harper and Kynsley; his mother, Connie Brinegar of Ottumwa; a sister, Alisa (Jim) Jager of Oskaloosa; and his dog, Shorty.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13th at Reece Funeral Home with his family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14th at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Munterville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wapello County 4-H Expo.
