A Cedar Rapids man has been charged with child endangerment after allegedly holding his 4-year-old daughter over the edge of a floating dock at the Coralville Reservoir while intoxicated.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Devin Cariens Hook was involved in a physical altercation with multiple individuals — including the child’s mother — on Sunday before the alleged incident occurred.
The child’s mother, who left the scene before deputies arrived, later reported that Cariens Hook was unable to maintain his balance and she feared he might drop the child into the water.
Cariens Hook has been charged with child endangerment, a serious offense under Iowa law.
