An Ottumwa man potentially faces decades in prison after police say he sent illicit files featuring minors.
25-year-old Mason Lapoint has been charged with 56 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class C felony.
Authorities say that between July 21, 2024, and September 1, 2024, Lapoint used a messaging app to send files containing visual depictions of apparent minors engaged in sexual acts. According to court records, Lapoint sent 65 total files featuring 56 different apparent minors involved in illicit acts.
