It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Dwight Edward Jones on February 13, 2025. Born in Centerville, IA, on January 26, 1948, Dwight was a man of exceptional strength, and his witty, humble, and caring nature was evident in his everyday life. Though we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the life he led, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind. Dwight grew up in Cincinnati, IA with hard working parents and 2 sisters. He was a proud Iowa State graduate, with a Masters Degree in business from South Dakota State. He enjoyed a successful career as a plant manager in the direct marketing industry, retiring from Dunlap Manufacturing Unionville, Mo. Yet, amidst his professional pursuits, he remained a humble and loving figure at the heart of his family. He was an avid sports enthusiast, passionately supporting Iowa, Iowa State, the Chicago Cubs and the Bulls. His other hobbies included golf, computers, listening to music and he was talented at decorating outside for Christmas. Dwight’s wit and sense of humor made him a joy to be around, his work ethic was admirable, and his supportive nature made him a pillar of strength to those around him. He was a treasured husband, father, brother and friend. Dwight is survived by his daughters Kelli Eickhoff, Kara Jones, Melissa (Mike) Thomsen, Jenny (Jeremy) Long, Emily (Chris) Hansen, as well as his sister Lynetta Wales. Ten grandchildren Jason Eickhoff, Lauren Long, Luke Long, Braxton Hansen, Grace Thomsen, Libby Long, Ellie Thomsen, Madelyn Hansen, Leighton Long, and Reese Hansen. And neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Donna Jones, his parents Carl and Marjorie Jones, and his sister Liane Scott. Dwight’s memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all who knew him. In celebrating Dwight’s life, we invite you to share your memories and photos on the memorial page. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Your tributes serve as a testament to Dwight’s life and the impact he had on those around him. He may be gone, but his spirit and legacy endure, etched in the memories we shared and the love he gave so freely. Sinnott Funeral Home of Ottumwa, serving all of Southern Iowa is entrusted with assisting the family.
