State Auditor Rob Sand today released the following statement on the arrest of Madison County Treasurer Amanda Devos.
“We are aware of multiple issues in Madison County and have been working with local officials on
appropriate courses of action,”

On Friday, January 31, Madison County Sheriff Jason Barnes arrested Devos on charges of Theft in the
Third Degree, Felonious Misconduct in Office, and Tampering with Records.

The charges stem from Devos’ duties as Madison County Treasurer.

Chapter 11.42 of the Code of Iowa requires the Auditor’s Office to maintain confidential all information
received during the course of an audit or examination, including allegations of misconduct or
noncompliance, until a report is issued.
