The Eagle Grove Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation conducted an investigation of a complaint against Colt Richardson, 27, Webster City, Iowa.
Richardson at that time was a police officer with the Eagle Grove Police Department in Eagle Grove, Iowa.
On January 13, 2025, Richardson was arrested and was terminated from his position. Richardson is being charged with a violation of Iowa Code 728.2 – dissemination Material to a minor,unlawfully using the social media platform Snapchat, transmitting explicit images to a person under the age of 18.
The first transmission was sent via Snapchat while the defendant was on duty at the Eagle Grove Police Department , and the second transmission occurred while he was off duty.
The defendant acted with knowledge that the recipient was a minor and sent the images anyway.

The results of this investigation have been forwarded to the Wright County Attorney’s Office for review.
