According to a report from the Iowa Workforce Development the Eddyville Cargill Plant will layoff 29 people effective Feb.5,2025.
Nearly 100 workers went on strike at the Cargill Corn Milling Plant in Cedar Rapids that began Oct. 1 and ended Oct. 31,2024.
Union Teamsters 238 went on strike after Cargill’s wage offer and they threatened to cut off health insurance for the striking workers.
The two sides reached a deal before this happened.
The terms of their agreement were not released.
It is unclear at this time what lead up to these layoffs.
