OTTUMWA, Iowa — As winter sets in and the holiday spirit fills the air, many are looking for ways to help others stay warm.
While options like Goodwill or local churches come to mind, in Ottumwa, there’s also River Valley Place, an assisted living facility.
Thanks to residents, their families, and the public, the first round of donations have already been decorated on the tree, getting it ready to give back to those in need.
The public is invited to visit the Giving Tree, either to make a donation or pick up warm accessories, no questions asked.
The giving tree will stay up throughout December and will continue to be redecorated as long as donations keep coming in.
