The Sigourney City Council held its final meeting of the year on Wednesday.
After the consent agenda was approved, Stuart Grossman provided a pavilion update. Grossman says he is aiming for the 4th of July as the date for the pavilion to be finished but money and the weather may push his desired date further into 2025. Grossman says he plans to bring in a liaison to oversee the project once construction begins.
The council agreed to have a special council meeting on January 6 to have a budget workshop.
Gary Iosbaker, Executive Director of Keokuk County Economic Development, says Holly Ellis is now a notary public, an official appointed by a state government to serve the public as an impartial witness during notarizations. Iosbaker says Ellis will be available to serve members who may need her services.
The council approved the hiring of a soccer director who will make $2,500 for the season. It also approved placing an ad in the News Review and Shettler Media for a summer 2025 manager, assistant manager, and lifeguards.
The next Sigourney City Council meeting will take place on January 2.
