Ottumwa Felon Allegedly Found “Passed Out” at BP Gas Station

An Ottumwa felon was allegedly found passed out in a vehicle at a local gas station.

35-year-old Jonathon Johnson was charged with possession of a controlled substance – marijuana 1st offense, possession of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon, 1st-degree harassment – threaten forcible felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On November 3, court records say Johnson was seen unconscious in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked at a gas pump at the BP station on 1340 Albia Road.

Authorities questioned Johnson about the odor and he admitted to possessing a marijuana cigar. Officers conducted a probable cause search and found a firearm and a glass smoking device with marijuana residue.

According to court records, Johnson has four felony convictions in the state of Illinois and is forbidden to own a firearm.

Johnson was transported to the Wapello County Jail. He pleaded not guilty and has a preliminary hearing on November 12.
