Janet Lee Yeoman, 71, of Ottumwa, IA, passed peacefully in the comfort of her home on October 24, 2024 at 4:26 a.m.
She was born July 11, 1953 in Ottumwa, IA to Richard Yeoman and Gladys Mae Lewis. Janet and her twin sister, Janice, were raised by their grandparents, Harry and Violet Yeoman, who adopted them both.
She married Willey Edward Felkins Sr., with whom she shared 4 children, Willey Jr., Tracy, Deborah and Tammy. They later divorced. She then married Michael Robert Headley and they later divorced.
Janet previously worked at Ottumwa Walmart in the kitchen, as a cook in Excel cafeteria and as a city cab driver. She spent 30+ years volunteering at the Ottumwa Oktoberfest, where several lifelong friendships began and families joined.
As a longtime resident of Camelot Towers, she was a member of the 99ers Club and became a friend to almost all she came upon. Janet enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, mowing, camping and cooking for others. She especially loved spending time with her fur babies, children, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Surviving are her children, Willey Edward Felkins Jr., Tracy Felkins (Keith Lancaster), Deborah Felkins Jordan, Tammy Felkins (Anthony McNeal); 16 grandkids, 8 great-grandkids; many nephews and nieces; 2 sisters, her twin, Janice Mason and her sister Nancy Crapser; 4 brothers, James Yeoman (Utah), James Walter Jr., John Bishop Jr., and Mark Bishop; as well as a huge number of friends, bonus sisters, brothers and additional family members throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by both sets of parents, biological and adopted; 2 great-grandkids and many loved ones who greeted her with open arms at heaven’s gate.
Visitation will open at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 9th, at Reece Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Cremation will follow the visitation.
