He was born on May 1, 1952 in Forest City, Iowa to Marvin & Doris Hall Juhl. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1970. After high school, he attended Waldorf College in Forest City and then graduated from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. After college, Tom became an optometrist in the Army. After his service, he purchased an optometry practice in Bloomfield which he owned for 43 years before his retirement in June. On June 23, 1990, Tom married Stacie Dunn in Bloomfield.
Tom was active in the community by serving on the Planning and Zoning Committee, Lions Club, Bloomfield Country Club Board and was a founding member of the Davis County Hospital Foundation. He had a deep-seated desire to put others first. Tom liked going to the beach, golfing, birdwatching, rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes, reading, making cheesecakes, lawncare, and was a history buff – especially covering WWII and aviation. Shoes were optional for Tom and he enjoyed a good ice tea, Oreos, hot weather, and derby. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Stacie Juhl; three children, Katy (Doug) Juhl, Jason (Cate) Juhl, Derek Juhl; two granddaughters (Who called him Pops), Fleur and Lorde Juhl; three siblings, Randy (Renee) Juhl, Marcia (Travis) Brunsvold, Rick (Ann) Juhl; brother-in-law, Kris (Angela) Dunn; and several nieces and nephews.

Following the service, the Iowa Hawkeye game will be televised starting at 3:00 p.m. with food and drink available. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Bloomfield Country Club. The family also requests that attendees dress casually, as Tom would have liked that.
