Byron Merrilee “Barney” Esary, 81, of Eldon, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Byron was born on October 12, 1944, in Eldon, Iowa, to John T. and Adeline Esary. He spent his life enjoying the simple things that brought him happiness. He loved spending time fishing, playing his harmonica, and making memories with his family and friends. Those who knew Barney will remember his kind heart, easygoing nature, and the enjoyment he found in life’s everyday moments.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Louise, Rosemary, and Beverly; and his brothers, John, Donald, Wayne, and Ronald.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Alicia and Jessica; his special cousin, Charlie Esary; his longtime friend, Theresa Sparkes; his faithful dog, Crickett; his special niece, Carson; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Eldon Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Sinnott Funeral Home.
