Rodney Dannels, 67, of Rose Hill, passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center on February 15, 2024.
Rodney Jai Dannels, son of Robert Eugene and Helen Mae (Moll) Dannels, was born on January 29, 1957, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was a 1975 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. Rodney assisted in the farm operation with his parents in the Rose Hill area until 1995, when the family farm operation was sold. He then continued to do farm work for neighbors. He enjoyed working with his brother, Rob, to restore old farming equipment and buildings, including Nelson Pioneer Farm.
Rodney immensely enjoyed watching Jeopardy and was very good at solving the question. He also enjoyed watching football as well as other sporting events. His family will always remember him as loving, respectful, and welcoming.
Rodney’s family includes his sister, Lisa Dannels Kinkade of Oskaloosa; his brother, Rob (Sally) Dannels of Rose Hill; his nephews: Jeremy (Carey) Dannels, Josh Dannels, Jacob (Andrea) Dannels, Cody Randell; his niece Ashley (Zach) Wenke; several great nieces and nephews; one great-great-nephew; and one good buddy, Michael Auwaerter.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents.
As was his wish, Rodney’s body has been cremated, and graveside services will he held at Forest Cemetery on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 3:00 p.m with Chaplain Dan Van Kooten officiating.
