The Ottumwa City Council held their second September meeting on Tuesday night.
The City Clerk office staff proposed a $60 registration fee to the council for the usage of golf carts within city limits. The recommendation was passed three to one.
The council members approved an agreement with Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress (GOPIP) to donate to this years 20th Annual Holiday Nights and Lights. The City will be making a limited sponsorship of $500.
The Council established a policy related to the process and procedures for renting City poles the display of banners. Ottumwa Regional Health Center requested to rent the poles to display breast cancer awareness banners. They want to encourage women to get mammograms and screenings. One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer and Ottumwa is 11% below the average for regular screenings for the specific cancer.
On September 23, Dan Reid will be sworn in to take Cyan Bossou’s council chair. Reid’s first meeting will be on October 1.
