An Ottumwa woman faces charges after she and the co-defendant allegedly stole an individual’s identification.
30-year-old Devin Young was charged with forgery – identity theft under $1,500.
On April 1, court records say Young and the co-defendant stole the victim’s name, date of birth, and bank account information. Authorities say the co-defendant presented themselves as the victim in order to allegedly put a mortgage extension on Young’s residence. According to court records, Young and the co-defendant used the victim’s identification on three different transactions and spent an estimated $150.
Young was taken to the Wapello County Jail. She had a $2,000 bond and a preliminary hearing on September 23. Young was released under her own recognizance.
