A man reported missing was reportedly found dead according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says James Orville Morris Jr. was reported missing on September 8. Morris had not been seen since July 25.
Authorities interviewed Morris’ acquaintances and conducted various searches in the area where he was last seen.
On September 15, law enforcement underwent another search using cadaver K-9s from the Iowa Task Force near the Lake Red Rock area. A deceased body believed to be Morris was located close to a wooded area. The remains will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the identity.
Authorities believe Morris took his own life based on a preliminary investigation.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Reserves, Department of Public Safety Mobile Field Force Unit, Indiana-Township Fire Department, Knoxville Township Fire Department, Knoxville City Rescue, K-9 and handlers from Iowa Task Force One, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rangers, and the Marion County Medical Examiner’s Office helped in the search.
