Laredda Jackson, 75, of Ottumwa, fighting dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease during the past 6 years, died at 10:30 a.m. August 30, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
She was born March 26, 1949 in Ottumwa to Clarence and Glendola “Fern” Sands Carnes. She married Samuel Jackson December 30, 1967.
A 1967 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Laredda had worked at Fareway and Busy Bee Laundry. She worked for South Ottumwa Savings Bank for 13 years and for Liberty School providing meals.
She was a member of Christ’s Church. Laredda enjoyed camping and attending Bluegrass Festivals with her husband, Sam.
Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Sam; their children, Christopher (Melissa) Jackson and Sheri Jackson (Teresa Wolver) both of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Markee Jackson, Aubree Jackson and Sara Sparks; and a brother, Richard (Judy) Carnes of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tom Carnes; and sister, Betty Fosdyck.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 3rd at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Graveside services and burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 4th at Shaul Cemetery with Rev. Sonny Smyser officiating.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society or to the family to be designated at a later date.
