OPD: Woman Allegedly Concealed Drugs After Traffic Stop

An Ottumwa woman allegedly concealed meth from officers after a traffic stop.

35-year-old Vallon Leaf was charged with Intent to Deliver Meth Over 5 grams, Possess Contraband in a Controlled Facility, Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp – Over 7 grams, and Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd offense.

On July 11 at 4:18 a.m, court records say Leaf was a passenger during a traffic stop on 1001 East Main Street. Officers conducted a probable cause search on the vehicle. According to authorities, Leaf had marijuana in her purse and multiple baggies used for packaging illegal drugs were located in the vehicle.

During a search at the Wapello County Jail, jail staff located 43.3 grams of methamphetamine concealed on Leaf.

According to court records, Leaf has prior drug arrests dating April 2020 and December 2021.

Leaf is being held with a $25,000 bond.

36-year-old Stephyne Stewart was driving the vehicle and charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd offense and Driving While Barred.

Stewart is being held on a $1,000 bond.
