An armed robbery has been reported at the Kwik Star in Oskaloosa, with a heavy law enforcement presence currently in the area of Ford Avenue and Highway 92 west, according to scanner reports and social media posts from Des Moines What’s Happening Scanner Traffic Alerts and News. According to scanner reports from the Des Moines What’s Happening Scanner Traffic Alerts and News Facebook page, the suspect vehicle — a black Chevrolet Trax with Wisconsin plates — was last seen traveling westbound on Highway 92 before crashing near Ford Avenue and Highway 92, with three subjects reportedly fleeing the vehicle on foot.
Law enforcement has established a perimeter in the area and deployed a drone over a nearby cornfield, where a heat signature was detected. Five cash boxes were reportedly located in the cornfield. A nearby house was also being cleared by authorities. An Iowa State Patrol plane was also reported en route to assist.
A BOLO — be on the lookout — was issued for a blue Hyundai Elantra in the area believed to possibly be attempting to pick up the fleeing suspects. Authorities requested an armored vehicle, and a Bearcat was reported en route from Des Moines.
The Mahaska County Law Center is currently in lockdown. No county officials have commented on the situation or the current level of danger to the community.
