The Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office is joining a new statewide initiative from the Iowa Donor Network called “To My Donor,” which invites organ and tissue recipients across Iowa to write handwritten letters to their donors that will be displayed publicly as a reminder of the life-transforming impact of organ and tissue donation, according to a social media post from the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office.
Permanent displays will be placed in the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office. While letters from any Iowa donor recipient are welcome, the office is especially encouraging Jefferson County donor recipients to participate.
To participate, recipients should handwrite a short, three-sentence letter on any type of paper in response to the prompt: “What would you say to your donor if they were standing in front of you?” Letters should not include any names or identifying information such as dates, locations, or times, though initials may be used. Letters should also be appropriate for public display.
Completed letters can be mailed to Iowa Donor Network c/o Morganne Reinboldt, 550 N. Madison Ave., North Liberty, Iowa 52317, or dropped off at the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office or in the silver drop box outside the north doors of the Jefferson County Courthouse. Those with questions can contact Grace Hutt at ghutt@iadn.org or Morganne Reinboldt at mreinboldt@iadn.org.
