Marietta Jane Huggins, 87, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on June 28, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on May 5, 1937 in Davis County, Iowa to Ancle Ray and Minnie Marie Rysdam Gilland. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1955. On August 27, 1955 she married Jimmie Huggins in Missouri. Jimmie passed away on July 8, 2009.

Marietta and Jimmie owned Floris Produce for many years before Marietta started working at the Floris Post Office until transferring to the Ottumwa Post Office. She would retire from the Post Office after 30 years. Marietta did not stay retired long before starting to work at the Davis County Locker and later Hastings Meat Processing. After several years, she went to work for Davis County Schools as a cook before her final retirement at the age of 80. Marietta loved to stay busy. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, being outdoors, and helping others in any way she could. She also enjoyed the companionship of her beloved pets, Buddy, Sheila, and Millie. She was a lifelong member of the Floris Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Randy (Debbie) Huggins of Bloomfield; two daughters, Peggy (Greg) Harris of Bloomfield, Becky (Greg) Lames of Floris; six grandchildren, Tony (Lindy) Huggins, Stephanie (Bill) Dunning, Holly (Scott) Randall, Steve (Danielle) Harris, Chris (Lynsey) Harris, Rachel Lames; ten great-grandchildren, Keagen, Jaden, Taylor, Payton, Owen, Oliver, Sophia, Gracin, Hutch, Holland; three great-grandchildren, Oaklyn, Mali, and one on the way; four brothers-in-law, Ron (Pat) Huggins, Harold Huggins, Max (Tonya) Huggins, Gary Joe (Pam) Huggins; four sisters-in-law, Oma Munn, Janice Huggins, Sue Myers, Debbie Huggins; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Irene (Fred) Cline, Maxine (Charles) Harward; six brothers-in-law, Smoke (Marlene) Huggins, Dwight (Jacquie) Huggins, Bill Huggins, Tommie Huggins, Stan Huggins, Jimmy Munn; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Huggins, Rose (Rusty) Grinstead.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be at the Floris Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties and the Floris Baptist Church.
