Landline 911 Services Down in Wapello County

The City of Ottumwa says a network event in the Des Moines area has taken down landline 911 services in multiple regions of the state, including Wapello County.

Wireless and VoIP 911 services remain functional. Administrative lines at the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office and the Ottumwa Police Department are currently working properly. There is no time estimate for the return of service.

Lumen is the name of the company that encountered the network event. Lumen has released the following statement:

“Our techs are working hard to fix a service disruption, caused by a water pipe break, which is affecting landline 911, phone, and internet service for some customers in Central and Eastern Iowa. Restoring impacted services is our top priority. We’ll provide regular updates, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.” Statement from Lumen
