Charles Michael “Mike” Weir, 76, of Davenport, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 11:27 a.m. April 14, 2024 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born December 8, 1947 in Ottumwa to Gerald and Catherine Roberts Weir. He married Janice Downing December 31, 1970.
A 1966 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Mike held a commercial driver’s license and worked 30 years at the Davenport Public Library and drove a book mobile, retiring in 2014.
Mike enjoyed camping, especially with his family as he loved spending time with them. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Surviving is his wife, Janice; 2 daughters, Jakki Short (Kenny Lagle) of Eldon and Michelle Reddick of Aledo, IL; a son, Michael (Calli) Weir of Davenport; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, John (Brenda) Miller of Minneapolis, MN and Gerald Weir of Butte, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jacquelyn Burns, Jerrolyn Byrd, Peggy McKittrick, Jean’ne Houk and infant sister, Joy Marlene Weir; brothers, James Weir and Steven Miller.
Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 19th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. In honor of Mike, the family asks that you wear Iowa Hawkeye apparel or colors. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Douds.
