Jane Ann Haines, 90, of Bloomfield, died at 11:30 a.m. April 7, 2024 at home.She was born March 26, 1934 in Iowa City to George Lee and Eva Ratsliff Prentice. She married Russell L. Haines August 30, 1962 and he preceded her in death January 7, 2009.

A 1951 graduate of Troy High School, Jane received her teacher’s certificate from Parsons College in Fairfield. She had been a substitute teacher for the Cardinal and Ottumwa School Districts, retiring in 1994.

Jane was a founding member of the Soap Creek Rebels Saddle Club and volunteered her time at Good Samaritan Society for years.

Jane had been a member of Zion Community Church of God.

She enjoyed gardening, mowing and yard work, playing basketball and watching Hawkeye basketball. Jane loved animals, live music and car rides with Ed.

Surviving are 2 sons, George (Cara) Brown of Ottumwa and Michael (Betty) Haines of Eldon, MO; 2 grandchildren, Arron (Ashley) Brown of Aledo, TX, Marcus Haines of Eldon, MO; her companion and best friend, Ed Hamm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a half-brother, Robert Prentice; a grandchild, Melissa Haines.

Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Friday, April 12th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13th at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will in Troy Cemetery in Davis County.

Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis & Wapello Counties or Heartland Humane Society.
