Wapello County Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Richmond says conditions remain dangerous for outdoor burning.
Effective Friday, outdoor burning is banned in Wapello County. According to Richmond, persons with a specific need to utilize fire as a tool for agricultural purposes may obtain a permit from their Fire Chief after demonstrating the proper mitigation plans and having the proper tools to extinguish the fire if needed.
In a proclamation signed by State Fire Marshal Dan Wood, anyone violating the burn ban could be charged with a simple misdemeanor.
