The Ottumwa RAGBRAI Committee hosted a revealing event at Bridge View Center on Wednesday to reveal the logo and theme for the Ottumwa stop of RAGBRAI on July 25th.
The 2024 Ottumwa RAGBRAI theme is “City on the Hill.” RAGBRAI officials say this year’s route is the hilliest ever.
Guests also had the opportunity to sign up to help for the July event. Laura Carrell, Executive Director of Meet Ottumwa, says hundreds of volunteers will be needed to make the Ottumwa stop of RAGBRAI successful.
“So we’re looking for as many people that can be hands on deck. We have all 19 of our committee chairs and as many of them as can be are here to talk a little bit about what they do and who they need to help. And then our volunteer committee will take names and numbers and get everybody matched up.” Laura Carrell, Executive Director of Meet Ottumwa
Some of the committees included Hospitality, Entertainment, and Information Center. Organizers are also asking for residents to host cyclists.
It’s estimated that 25,000 to 30,000 people will pass through Ottumwa during the RAGBRAI stop.
