Orland “Orly” Dee Weatherington, 86, of Milton, IA passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Keosauqua Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Cranston-Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with Larry Shipley officiating. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Cranston-Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Orland’s honor may be directed to the Lebanon Cemetery Association. Orland “Orly” Dee Weatherington was born at home on September 20, 1937, to Jeremiah Oscar and Lydia Louise Kline Weatherington. Orland attended the Olive Branch Elementary School that still sits on his family farm. When the Olive Branch School closed, he attended and graduated from Milton High School in 1956. At the age of 10, Orland and his brother Warren took over the duties on the family farm when their father passed away. He was united in marriage to Laurell Nicoli on December 14, 1962, in Memphis, MO and together became the loving parents of six children.
Orland served as a Jackson Township Trustee for many years. He spent his entire life on the family farm doing what he loved to do. He enjoyed raising cattle and caring for his row crops and hay ground.
Orland is survived by his loving wife Laurell; six children, Loren (Debra) Weatherington, Donna (Kelly) Heisel, Doran (Tammy) Weatherington, Sarah Small (Louis Lynch), Carolyn (Paul) Wenke, and Lisa (Kelly) Bales, 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.
Orland was preceded in death by is parents; one brother, Warren; two sisters-in-law, Donna Weatherington and Lorene Francis; two brothers-in-law, Bill Nicoli and Jerry Francis, as well as many extended family and friends.
